US Highway 158 Improvement Project

NCDOT reported that they have delayed the final decision on the US 158 Improvement until June of 2018. As more information comes in, the Town will share it. (2.19.18)

Below is the updated information for the R-2577ABC, the US 158 Improvements project about which “interested citizens are inquiring.”

~ Next anticipated meeting in June 2018:  The NCDOT expects to hold Design Public Hearings for R-2577ABC, all sections of the US 158 Improvements project in Forsyth and Guilford Counties.  (R-2577A and R-2577B are the widening sections of this project, while R-2577C is a part new-location and a part widening section.)  The two US 158 bypass route alternatives still under study and consideration for construction in the Stokesdale vicinity, Bypass Alternative 2, south of existing US 158 in Stokesdale, and Bypass Alternative 3, north of existing US 158 in Stokesdale, will be displayed in the R-2577ABC public hearing project mapping, during both identical hearings to be held in Stokesdale and in Walkertown.

The R-2577ABC Inter-agency Project Team, which includes a NCDOT representative, will select one US 158 Bypass Alternative for construction in R-2577C, in Stokesdale.  As a part of the project development process, the NCDOT will seek local citizens’ input concerning the widening sections, R-2577A & B, and concerning the two US 158 bypass alternatives still under study and consideration in Stokesdale, before the project inter-agency team selects the bypass alternative that will be constructed in R-2577C.

~ October 2018:  The completion, approval, and publication of the Finding of No Significant Impact or FONSI for R-2577ABC, including the selected US 158 bypass route for R-2577C in Stokesdale.

*Copies of this information have been printed and are available at Town Hall Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 5:00p.m.
